This year marks the 50th anniversary of Robert Kennedy’s visit to South Africa in 1966. Last month, a large delegation of the Kennedy family, led by RFK’s daughter Kerry Kennedy, in addition to a Congressional delegation and others, recently traveled in South Africa to commemorate.  Faculty Associate Larry Shore (Film and Media) was also invited to join the delegation. Having grown up in South Africa, Shore was active in the Anti-Apartheid Movement and was present for Kennedy’s visit. Shore teaches about South Africa here at Hunter College and his award-winning film RFK In The Land Of Apartheid: A Ripple Of Hope documents Robert Kennedy’s trip.

During the visit, Shore’s film was screened at one of the main events in Durban, and was shown again on South African television.
